Update – Mission #100

Posted on the August 24th, 2012 under Empire Avenue,News by

On June 15, 2012 I helped my daughter setup a personal fundraiser campaign. The purpose of the fundraiser was to help her raise money that she would put toward the expenses associated with her synchronized swimming career. She currently swims at a national level, practices 21-24 hours per week, and competes all across Canada.

As a promotion to her fundraiser, I created an exclusive series of 50,000e missions on Empire Avenue. This series of missions was connected to a private community, only accessible to people who had made a minimum $50 donation to to my daughters gofundme fundraising campaign.

Today I published mission #100 in the community, with over 25,000,000 in eaves donated so far :D

Cheers to all of the positive support we have received from this fundraiser over the last several months,  you have no idea how inspirational it is to Sydney!

Update – Eaves For Sponsorship

Almost 1 month ago, I helped my daughter setup a personal fundraiser campaign.  The purpose of the fundraiser was to help her raise money that she would put toward the expenses associated with her synchronized swimming career.  She currently swims at a national level, practices 21-24hours per week, and competes all across Canada.  She is 13 in a 13-15 division.

Interest in the campaign was good, donations started to trickle in, but it needed something to push it over the top and really get the ball rolling.  Approximately 1 week into the fundraiser, Sydney approached me for advice on how to promote the fundraiser (I think she was secretly hoping I would donate).  This is where I stepped in and started helping to promote the fundraiser through my social media accounts.  I shared it out on Twitter, Facebook, my blog, and Empire Avenue.  I even added a bonus through Empire Avenue where people who contributed to the fundraiser would be eligible to claim a series of missions that would total 1,000,000 eaves.

Interest in the fundraiser started to grow, people started to share the link out to their networks, people started to donate.  The social media promotion was a success!

Some stats for the curious: 75 Facebook shares, 66 Twitter shares, 18 Tumblr shares, 209 blog comments, $450 in donations.

As of today, the Empire Avenue bonus is on Mission #21, and has donated 5,250,000 eaves to its contributors.  Several of the members have even made secondary contributions to the fundraiser, and are starting on their second million in bonus eaves.  There are still 4 opening available to be claimed in this 1,000,000 eave bonus communityDonate now to claim your bonus!

Thank you so much to everybody who has helped out with the fundraiser, your shares, comments, and words of motivation are a huge boost to the strain associated with training at this caliber.

Last Sunday, I created an exclusive series of 50,000e missions on Empire Avenue.  This series of missions was connected to a private community, only accessible to people who had made a minimum $50 donation to  to my daughters gofundme fundraising campaign.  In total there would be 950,000e available to the first person to donate; 900,000e to the second person; 850,000e to the third…you get the picture.  The fundraiser was a resounding success, with 6 donations in the first 3 days, and over 120 messages of encouragement to the blog.

Swimming with Passion

I have revisited the concept though, as it looks like a pyramid style of reward, which I do not agree with.  Starting tomorrow, I will be posting a new 50,000e mission every day in the community.  Every person in the community will be eligible to claim 1,000,000e in rewards before they are requested to leave the community, freeing up new slots for new players.   1,000,000e equates to 20 missions valued at 50,000e each.

Currently there are 10 spots available in the community, 6 are already in use, with the most senior player scheduled to hit their 1,000,000e mark in 5 days.  There are 9 ~ 50,000e missions currently available to be claimed, and if you donate today, your membership would be valid for another 11 days.

Cheers to all of the positive support we have received from this fundraiser over the last week, you have no idea how inspirational it is to Sydney :D

UPDATE: Sydney had her year end performance this weekend, and received the “Swimming with Passion” award from her synchronized swimming club.  She is very proud of her accomplishment, and is looking forward to starting the summer training schedule.
