Support a Young Athlete

Posted on the May 15th, 2012 under News by

As some of you may remember, last year Sydney competed in the top of her division at the MASY synchronized swimming competition.  She brought home a gold medal for the team event, and a silver medal for her duet.  After this exceptional performance, she decided to move up into a higher division, and now competes at a national level, with 21-24 hours of swim practice per week.  I won’t get into the specific costs, but rest assured they are substantial :D

Local Swimmer Brings Home Gold!

This year she is swimming in the 13-15 age category (she is 12) and is loving her decision to move up to the national division.  She has not complained once about her commitment to the team, not even when she gets up at 4:00am for Monday and Wednesday practice, nor when she missed 3 of her best friends birthday parties because she had a 6:00am Saturday practice, and definitely not when she gives up her weekends at the lake over the summer to swim with her team….she is a true champion (and future Olympian).

To help out with the extra burden associated with training at this caliber, Sydney has created a sponsorship page where people who appreciate the sports can make a donation to her and her goal of making it to the 2020 Olympics.

Please take a minute to check it out, she will be very motivated to see how much support she has. If you are unable to help with her fundraising through a donation, please be sure to leave words of encouragement…they really do go a long way.

More Dessert Bonus

Posted on the April 9th, 2012 under Empire Avenue,News by

EmpireAvenue has a purchasable bonus that will allow you to invest beyond your current max shares owned limit.  The cost of this bonus changes with your overall wealth (I think).

Currently I’m paying 121,000e for this bonus….that works out to an additional 121e per share if I invest in you using the extra 100 allotment.  So, if your share is currently trading at 95e/share, and I use this bonus to purchase past my 600 limit, it means that either:

  • I feel your shares are worth at least 216e/share (95e + 121e)
  • You have invested in my stock, and I am paying it forward
  • I like your content, regardless of the cost
  • I’m drunk and won’t remember investing tomorrow

Just for kicks, how much does everybody pay for their More Dessert bonus on Empire Avenue?
